Lappset’s quality and environmental management systems were re-audited successfully

ISO 9001 and 14001 CERTIFICATES LAPPSET 2018.png Quality and environmental systems are an essential part of Lappset's sustainability matters. Both systems were re-audited in May 2018 with excellent results and complying to new requirements.

Quality and management of environmental issues are essential parts of Lappset’s sustainability. The re-audition of the management systems was carried out in the Rovaniemi and Tallinn factories in May this year, again with excellent results.

The Group has had the ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management systems already since the late 1990’s. The certificates related to these systems are subject to auditions by an independent third party on a regular basis.

The audition was done by Kiwa Inspecta Group, an organization specialized in certifications, auditions, inspections, testing and technical consultation.

Tuomo Vaarala, Quality Engineer;
“There are several new requirements related to the quality and environmental management standards, for e.g.; greater emphasis on leadership engagement, addressing organizational risks and opportunities in a structured manner as well as a more efficient management of the supply chain. Furthermore, the updated requirements pay attention to organizational communications and are more user-friendly for service and knowledge-based organisations.”

The auditions of Lappset’s plants in Rovaniemi, Finland, and Tallinn, Estonia, were carried out successfully. The certificates of Lappset’s ISO 9001 quality system and ISO 14001 environmental management were re-issued for the coming three years. The PEFC Chain of Custody certificate for sustainable sourcing of wooden raw matrial is valid until 27 June 2019, and was not subject to audition this year. Lappset holds also a valid certificate for recycling of packaging materials, the so called RINKI certificate.

A special thanks to the staff of the factories in Finland and Estonia was expressed in the audition report for their participation in and suggestions for development of working processes to the benefit of customers.

The audition report noted further that workplace safety is at a high level in the factories through cleanliness of the production facilities as well as high usage of safety gear. The handling process of claims has improved significantly. Internal audits and audits of the supply network are working extremely well.
