Diverse playground and sports park in a special education institution

This park, located in the vocational school's courtyard, is designed to offer diverse opportunities for physical activities and recreation to students and other users of the institution. The park consists of three different areas: play, parkour, and fitness. Kiipula Vocational College is a vocational special needs institution that provides preparatory training and vocational basic education as special education.

Playground for students during breaks

The playground is designed with the needs of different user groups in mind, offering options for engaging in various forms of physical activity. The park is also a great place for social interaction; students can gather at the playground during breaks and find activities to do together.

"The design of the park emphasized considering the needs of different user groups as well as promoting play, movement, and social interaction. The park has activities for many and inclusivity has also been considered. Under the Sona, one can enjoy playing games and having fun despite physical disabilities," says Toni Mäntylä, who was involved in the Lappset project as a regional manager.

Playground that supports health and community

The playground is carefully designed, offering play equipment for users of all ages. Swings, slides, and balancing areas create a pleasant atmosphere where everyone can enjoy traditional play and outdoor activities.

The park also features a Sona that students can easily use to develop social skills. Sona is an interactive game that utilizes movement and sound. It offers nine different games, from which one can choose their favourite. The games provide unique and long-lasting entertainment, promoting physical activity and interaction.

The parkour area offers challenges for those who seek them. It provides an opportunity to practice movement creatively and safely. The area is suitable for beginners as well as experienced parkour enthusiasts.

The vocational college aims to encourage healthy lifestyles, which is why the playground is also equipped with fitness equipment that enables outdoor training. Weightlifting equipment and other equipment offer opportunities for comprehensive rehabilitation.

"Our active park often fills up in the evenings with students who come to work out at the outdoor gym or to spend time in the area in general. The equipment in the area is, of course, also used diversely in studies, and the teaching staff regularly bring groups to the active park," says
