Environmental product declarations as a tool

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provide a transparent, standardized, and verified look into our products' environmental impact. Developed through a rigorous Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), each EPD gives detailed insight into the resources and emissions involved from production to the end of the product's life. At Lappset, we believe in setting a new standard in the playground industry by embracing EPDs, allowing our customers to make informed, sustainable choices.

Prepared by Finnish company Greenstep, the EPDs for three of our core products are created in compliance with EN 15804+A2, ISO 14025, and ISO 21930 standards. The EN 15804+A2 standard, widely recognized for construction products, is particularly relevant to our offerings due to its close connection to construction practices. While our products are not technically categorized as construction products, this standard provides a robust and consistent framework for assessing environmental impacts across all stages of the life cycle.

Each declaration follows a "cradle-to-gate" approach, covering every phase of the product's lifecycle, including end-of-life and beyond, acknowledging the release of biogenic carbon as part of our cradle-to-grave commitment.

How EPDs help you

Transparency is integral to our philosophy. By sharing EPDs, we're not only fulfilling industry standards but exceeding them, allowing our customers and partners a clear view of our practices and the choices behind each product. This transparency differentiates us, ensuring that playgrounds designed for fun and safety also reflect our commitment to sustainable responsibility and eco-consciousness.

Showcasing environmental accountability through EPD: Three products, one purpose

We've chosen three reference products to illustrate our EPD process across different product groups. These specific products were selected because their size and use of a wide variety of materials provide a more comprehensive and detailed understanding of the environmental impacts associated with our products. By focusing on these complex and material-diverse designs, we can deliver a clearer and more meaningful picture of what is being used and its impact.
