A unique recycle game & a recycled Lappset Memo Interactive play pillars to match

Collaborating with the municipality of Stadskanaal and Yalp Netherlands, made the first Lappset Memo Interactive play pillars with recycled materials. We thought this was so cool that our R&D team devised a unique recycling game for it. This game consists of 100 quiz questions about trash.

The recycled Memo

The Memo in Stadskanaal is the first made of recycled materials in the world. And we are immensely proud of that. Sustainable entrepreneurship is not a trend but a must to keep the planet livable. At Lappset, we are committed to sustainability, and we are continuously working on ways to reduce our impact on the environment.

So what exactly is made from recycled waste in this Memo? The Memo consists of seven-game pillars on a round play floor. The caps of the seven pillars are made of recycled plastic. Because the caps are made of shredded waste material, there is always a unique colour combination—fun fact: the yellow flakes are made of recycled korfball baskets.

Do you want to find out what other materials were used on the recycled Memo caps?

The colour combination of the recycled Memo depends on the garbage stream, you can see the scrap, and that's beautiful!

Collaboration between Stadskanaal and Yalp

In 2019 Stadskanaal wanted to renew the centre. They wanted to do something special, something different. The municipality investigated how the centre could be rearranged and considered the environmentally friendly aspect to be very important. They had received a grant from the city of Stadskanaal to combat waste nuisance.

At Lappset Interactive, we had the design of a recycled Memo ready and got in touch with each other. The municipality was very interested from the moment, and the employees came to our office to try out the Memo. They were very optimistic about the interactive device but wanted something extra at Stadskanaal. The idea arose to develop a custom game on garbage separation because handing out a flyer that would end up in the trash wasn't appropriate. Our R&D team eventually developed a waste quiz with over 100 questions. Not only general questions about litter but also specific questions about the waste figures of Stadskanaal. An incredibly fun and informative collaboration.

The official quiz consists of 100 questions on the subject of recycling. The game can be played with up to six teams and takes an average of 5 minutes. Playing the game is not only fun but also very educational. The quiz consists of questions such as: "What colour does a garbage bin have?" and "In which bin does a dirty pizza box go?" This way, everyone learns in a fun way how to separate their garbage.
