The Finnish Association of Municipal Technology nominated Lappset as one of the contenders

Lappset was nominated to the international jury by the national Finnish organisation for municipal engineering. Its President Jyrki Paavilainen and Executive Director Ville Alatyppö played a key role in the nomination.

Ville Alatyppö, appointed President of the IFME: "Municipal technology has a global impact on everyone's daily life. The Lappset Group, a family-owned company based in Rovaniemi, is the first company to dare to express its open-minded, yet measurable goal of promoting the everyday health of people around the world with its products. It would be nice to see how someone can make it better.” The motivation and argumentation were based on Lappset’s current strategy to enhance global well-being by creating environments that encourage play, exercise, and social interaction for all ages. The pioneering role in integrating technology with traditional play and exercise without users using mobile phones to play in interactive solutions was also highlighted by the award jury.

Yvonne Overmaat, representing Lappset at the Award Ceremony: “This award reflects our mission to strengthen the heartbeat of more than a billion people in public areas by 2030. We are very honoured that our day-to-day work is commended for its merit and impact. We see a lot of innovation in the world around us, but not necessarily so much in the playground industry. We are extremely proud of Lappset’s innovation in traditional play and of utilizing modern technology to add play value and foster learning.” “As we create inspiring sports and play spaces, not only for children but for all mankind, we must not forget to remain playful in our daily lives,” she continued.
