A rooftop gym at the GoGo City fitness club in Tampere

There is nothing better than being outdoors and exercise!

Finland’s first rooftop gym is located on the roof of the GoGo City fitness club in the heart of Tampere. The Muscle Beach gym opened on 21 May 2014 on the seventh floor of Hämeenkatu 9. Lappset supplied the unique facility with a range of fitness products.

Finland’s first rooftop gym at the GoGo City fitness club in Tampere

There is nothing better than being outdoors in the summer. A completely new outdoor activity was created, when Finland’s first rooftop gym was built on the roof of the GoGo City fitness club in the heart of Tampere. The Muscle Beach gym opened on 21 May 2014 on the seventh floor of Hämeenkatu 9. Lappset supplied the unique facility with a range of Fitness products. 

 
According to Vuokko Vähätalo, Programme Director of GoGo Fitness Clubs and GoGo Express Gyms, the roof terrace boasts a magnificent range of different kinds of equipment. Lappset supplied the gym with monkey bars, a dip station, a fitness box and battling ropes. The gym also features a squat and bench press station. Other equipment includes kettlebells, weights and a TRX rope. 

We are extremely excited about this set-up. As our roof terrace is located next door to our spinning studio, our summer training calendar includes a class called MuscleSpin, which combines a cardiovascular workout on spinning bikes and strength training in the Muscle Beach outdoor gym. Our customers alternate between the two throughout the class and get an excellent whole-body workout, Vuokko Vähätalo explains.

Weather resistance was an important criterion for the choice of products for the rooftop gym. “We have no plans to cover the rooftop gym at the moment, which is why it is very important that the products can withstand different weather conditions and survive the winter”, Vähätalo says. She is also extremely pleased with Lappset’s service, both in terms of the products and the assembly. Lappset’s representative in the project was Regional Sales Manager Aarni Mertala, who is also a fitness enthusiast himself. GoGo City’s rooftop gym is the only one of its kind in Finland. There is no other similar gym on a rooftop terrace anywhere.

Catering to people of all ages

The new rooftop gym is designed for all kinds of fitness enthusiasts over the age of 15. There are products to cater to all tastes. Just hanging from the monkey bars is good exercise for seniors as well.
