Moomin-themed playground in Finland

Katariina Seaside Park provides a wonderful place for Moomin-themed play by the Baltic sea.

Kotka is a coastal city on the Baltic Sea and Katariina Seaside Park is a 20-hectare outdoor area located by the sea. A new Moomin-themed playground was opened in the park, bringing Moomin-tales to life in a real environment! The seven-meter-high Moominhouse with three floors inspires children of all ages to explore the Moominhouse and the valley while learning and having fun. Stairs inside the house let the younger children to move easily from a room to another, when the ladder outside the house gives something extra to the more experienced adventurer.

In addition to the Moominhouse, the park provides exciting play elements for balancing, swinging and climbing. Together they create a fascinating environment for adventures. A flowing brook lined with stones completes the exciting trip to the valley.

MP0101 Moominhouse The Moominhouse is a beautiful and cozy home for the Moomin family, and an iconic focal point in Moomin stories. Inside the house, the ground floor kitchen has many activities: cooking and baking, searching for ancestors and sliding out right from the window! The middle floor is for playing with friends and recalling Moominpappa’s travels. It is also an entrance to Moomintroll's room on the top floor, which has a great view over the Moominvalley, and a stunning tube slide down to the yard! One side of the house is partially open, allowing inside activities to be seen from outside. Here you can also find the exciting climbing section to the second floor and upwards.

MP0201 Moomin bridge The wooden arch bridge over the creek leading to the Moomin House is a lovely place to hang out with friends and to play hide and seek. Youngest children enjoy taking their first steps on the curved bridge. You can also sit on the bridge with some snacks, and wait for the return of Snufkin, just like Moomintroll does.
