Haaksbergen, Netherlands
Members of AVH sports club initiated a bootcamp route which is realized by the help of European Union LEADER funds. The route runs over the entire sports park and is publicly accessible so that everyone can use it freely.

With the bootcamp route, AVH's bootcamp training courses have been expanded. The route consists of 12 locations spread over a 4 km long route over the entire sports park.

Marloes Klumpers, chairman of AVH: "With the bootcamp route you can combine running and exercises, which is not only fun for our training sessions but for everyone at the park. We have also received more registrations since the new bootcamp route. It brings new youth to the sports park, which benefits all associations. The other associations at the park were also very enthusiastic about the bootcamp route."

A public bootcamp route is not only a great asset for Scholtenhagen but also for the municipality of Haaksbergen. The route is public, free to use and encourages residents to exercise. These ingredients made this project well suited to LEADER, a European rural development grant that covers 50% of the total budget.

This is a functional piece of equipment that allows the ropes to be moved simultaneously or in an alternating rhythm. The more holistically the body is used for moving the ropes, the more effective the exercise. The exercise can be varied by combining it with squats or raised push-ups, for example. Pulling the ropes is particularly effective for training the respiratory and circulatory systems.
