Disabled access - Example: Ship play equipment

Disabled access symbol

An obstacle-free route
  • The different areas of the ship are accessible via ramps. It is also possible to go around the ship via the bow
  • Handrails provide support – and the rings can be used to practise fine motor control.
  • The games wall is low enough for wheelchair users as well.
  • The corrugated floor provides a challenge for going up and down small hills in a wheelchair
  • With assistance, wheelchair users can also use the slide (assistance is needed for getting out of the wheelchair and back in again)

Access for persons with visual impairment
  • Safe exercises for practising balance
  • The severely visually impaired and blind can learn to identify different kinds of materials, surfaces, directions and the shape of the ship, for example
  • Handrails and other guidebars enable independent access – visually impaired persons cannot get lost on the ship!
